Mini facelift
A mini facelift (mini face lift) is a less invasive variant of the surgical lift, focused on the lower face and the jawline. Shorter incisions, gentle tightening of the SMAS layer and faster recovery make it an ideal choice for patients with early or moderate signs of ageing - usually between the ages of 40 and 55.

Mini facelift - what does the procedure involve?
A mini face lift is a less invasive form of surgical lifting of the lower face and the jawline. The procedure focuses on gently tightening the SMAS layer and removing excess skin, allowing a fresher, younger appearance without a radical change of facial features. At Luna Clinic we perform the mini lift both under general anaesthesia and - in selected cases - under local anaesthesia. The procedure is ideal for patients with early signs of ageing who want a subtle improvement of the facial contour.
We perform the mini facelift under general anaesthesia, and in selected cases even under local anaesthesia with sedation. The procedure improves the jawline and jowls, but does not include a full neck correction - with advanced sagging we will honestly suggest a full facelift.
Indications for the procedure
Whether the procedure is advisable for you is ultimately decided by the doctor during the consultation.
- Loss of the facial oval, sagging cheeks (jowls)
- Deep nasolabial folds and marionette lines
- Sagging skin of the neck and chin (“turkey neck”)
- Age-related lengthening of the lower face
- A desire for clear rejuvenation without an unnatural pulled effect
- Improvement of the jawline and neck line
Contraindications
How to prepare for the procedure?
The procedure is always preceded by a qualification consultation with a plastic surgeon - we discuss expectations, examine the area to be operated on and establish an individual treatment plan. As standard, we order a full set of tests (blood count, coagulation, electrolytes, ECG for general anaesthesia) and, if necessary, additional specialist consultations.
- Consultation with a plastic surgeon for qualification, discussing expectations and the treatment plan
- Laboratory tests
- Stopping anticoagulant medications at least 14 days before the operation (after consulting a doctor)
- Avoiding alcohol and smoking for a minimum of 14 days before the procedure - for better healing
- Thorough facial-skin hygiene on the day of the procedure (no make-up, creams or lotions)
The mini facelift procedure step by step
Recovery and post-procedure recommendations
- Swelling and bruising are natural and diminish within 2-4 weeks
- Sleeping with the head elevated is recommended for the first few days
- Dressings and sutures cared for according to the doctor’s recommendations
- Sutures are usually removed after 7-14 days
- Avoiding intense physical exertion and bending over for a minimum of 4-6 weeks
- No sunbathing or use of a solarium for a minimum of 6 months - SPF 50 protection is necessary
- After full healing, scar massages and products supporting their maturation may be introduced - according to the doctor’s recommendation
- Check-ups: about 1 month after the procedure, then after 3, 6 and 12 months
Treatment effects
The result of a mini facelift is a refreshed, clear jawline, reduced jowls and a gentle lift of the cheeks - the face looks rested and younger, with no traces of intervention. Return to social activity usually occurs after 10-14 days, and the effect lasts on average 8-12 years.
A facelift significantly improves the jawline and neck contour, reduces skin sagging and deepened folds, giving a younger, fresh yet natural appearance. The effect lasts an average of 8-12 years. Skin ageing will continue, but the face looks much younger than without the procedure. An individual approach allows the scope and technique to be adjusted to achieve the most harmonious result possible.
Possible complications and risks
Like any surgical procedure, this one also carries a certain risk - at Luna Clinic we minimise it through careful qualification, operating in operating-block conditions and the team’s experience. Possible complications include:
- Haematoma or bleeding requiring drainage
- Infection requiring antibiotic therapy
- Temporary or rarely permanent sensory disturbances in the face or auricle
- Hypertrophic or discoloured scars - minimised thanks to precise suturing technique
- Asymmetry requiring correction
- Longer-lasting swelling or bruising
- An unsatisfactory aesthetic result requiring possible re-operation
Frequently asked questions
Czy zabieg boli?
No - it is performed under general anaesthesia. After the procedure the pain is controlled with medication.
Will the scars be visible?
The incisions are made in natural creases in front of and behind the ear - over time they become very discreet.
How long does a mini facelift take?
Usually 1.5-2.5 hours - shorter than a full lift. The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia or local anaesthesia with sedation.
How long does recovery take?
The main healing takes 2-3 weeks. We assess the full effect after a few months.
When can I return to work?
To office work usually after 10-14 days - faster than after a full lift.
When will I see the final result?
Most of the swelling subsides within 10-14 days, and we assess the final result after about 3 months, once the scars have faded.
Is the effect permanent?
The effect of a mini lift usually lasts 5-8 years. The skin continues to age, but the starting point remains permanently improved.
Does a mini facelift leave smaller scars?
Yes - the incision is shorter than in a full lift, made mainly in front of the ear in natural creases; after healing it is very discreet.
Is the procedure suitable for men?
Yes - we also perform the lift on men, preserving male anatomy and a natural effect.
Mini facelift or full facelift - how to choose?
The degree of sagging decides: for early changes of the lower face a mini lift is enough; with pronounced tissue drooping and a lax neck only a full facelift will give a lasting effect. We will advise you honestly at the consultation.
Can a mini facelift be combined with other procedures?
Yes - most often with eyelid surgery, facial lipofilling or chin liposuction, which gives fuller rejuvenation with a single recovery.
How to prepare for the procedure?
A full set of tests and anaesthesiological qualification, stopping smoking for at least 4 weeks and blood-thinning medications after agreement with the doctor. You will receive a detailed list of recommendations at the consultation.

What does the mini facelift involve?
Mini facelift is a procedure in the field of plastic surgery. At Luna Clinic, every treatment plan is created individually - we start with a thorough consultation and qualification, during which the doctor discusses expectations, assesses the starting situation and selects the scope and technique of the procedure. Thanks to this, the mini facelift is safe, predictable and tailored to the anatomy and real needs of the specific person. We focus on a natural rather than artificial effect - so that the result emphasises individual beauty and remains in harmony with the rest of the figure or facial features. You will find a full, detailed description of the method in the upper part of this page.
the mini facelift - who is it for? Indications and qualification
The best way to answer whether the mini facelift is advisable in your case is during a consultation. The doctor always decides on qualification after an examination - we take into account the state of health, expectations and the real possibilities of the given method. If the procedure is not needed or safe at the moment, we will say so directly and suggest a sensible alternative. Such an honest conversation is the basis of a good decision and satisfaction with the result - which is why we never persuade anyone into unnecessary procedures.
How does the procedure go?
The course is planned to take maximum care of your comfort and safety. We work in comfortable conditions that meet all standards, and an experienced team oversees the process. All recommendations - preparation, contraindications and post-procedure conduct - are discussed individually and also provided in writing, so that the mini facelift proceeds calmly, predictably and without surprises.
Effects and durability - the mini facelift before and after
The effects that the mini facelift provides are always assessed individually. A natural, harmonious refreshment of appearance or an improvement of proportions is the goal we strive for with every patient. “Before and after” transformations are best viewed in our results gallery - they show the real outcomes of our work. Remember that the durability and quality of the effect are also influenced by lifestyle, care and consistent adherence to post-procedure recommendations.
Recovery and post-procedure recommendations
Recovery goes most smoothly when you follow the recommendations closely. After the procedure you remain under the clinic’s care - in the first days, contact with a doctor is available, and we schedule follow-up visits until full healing and assessment of the effect. You receive clear instructions on care, activity and any supporting products in writing, so you know exactly what to expect at each stage of returning to form.
Safety, experience and trust
Safety is an absolute priority for us. Mini facelift is performed by Dr Aleksandra Łuniewska - a plastic surgery specialist, with care for safety and an individual approach to the patient. Careful qualification, work in appropriate conditions and the team’s experience allow us to minimise risk and achieve repeatable, aesthetic results. In the field of plastic surgery, not only technique matters, but also aesthetic sense and trust between patient and doctor - and that is exactly what we build Luna Clinic on every day.
Why Luna Clinic?
Luna Clinic is an intimate, boutique clinic where not only the result matters, but also comfort, discretion and a sense of safety. We carry out the mini facelift with attention to every detail - from the first conversation, through the procedure itself, to post-procedure care. Patients choose us for the experience of our specialists, the individual approach and the natural, harmonious results. It matters to us that every person feels heard and well informed, which is why we present the real possibilities and limitations of the given method and choose the best solution together.
How to prepare for the procedure?
Good preparation translates directly into the course and the effect. Before the mini facelift we conduct a qualification consultation, order tests if necessary and discuss the recommendations in detail - including which agents, stimulants or activities to avoid in the days preceding the procedure. You receive all the guidance clearly and in writing, and our team remains available should any additional questions arise. We always tailor the preparation plan individually, because every situation and every patient is different.
