Mini facelift - what does the procedure involve?
A mini face lift is a less invasive form of surgical lifting of the lower face and the jawline. The procedure focuses on gently tightening the SMAS layer and removing excess skin, allowing a fresher, younger appearance without a radical change of facial features. At Luna Clinic we perform the mini lift both under general anaesthesia and - in selected cases - under local anaesthesia. The procedure is suitable for patients with early signs of ageing who want a subtle improvement of the facial contour.
We perform the mini facelift under general anaesthesia, and in selected cases even under local anaesthesia with sedation. The procedure improves the jawline and jowls, but does not include a full neck correction - with advanced sagging we will honestly suggest a full facelift.

Contraindications
How to prepare for the procedure?
The procedure is always preceded by a qualification consultation with a plastic surgeon - we discuss expectations, examine the area to be operated on and establish an individual treatment plan. As standard, we order a full set of tests (blood count, coagulation, electrolytes, ECG for general anaesthesia) and, if necessary, additional specialist consultations.

- Avoiding alcohol and smoking for a minimum of 14 days before the procedure - for better healing

The mini facelift procedure step by step
Recovery and post-procedure recommendations
- Swelling and bruising are natural and diminish within 2-4 weeks
- Sleeping with the head elevated is recommended for the first few days
- Dressings and sutures cared for according to the doctor’s recommendations
- Sutures are usually removed after 7-14 days
- Avoiding intense physical exertion and bending over for a minimum of 4-6 weeks
- No sunbathing or use of a solarium for a minimum of 6 months - SPF 50 protection is necessary
- After full healing, scar massages and products supporting their maturation may be introduced - according to the doctor’s recommendation
- Check-ups: about 1 month after the procedure, then after 3, 6 and 12 months
Treatment effects
The result of a mini facelift is a refreshed, clear jawline, reduced jowls and a gentle lift of the cheeks - the face looks rested and younger, with no traces of intervention. Return to social activity usually occurs after 10-14 days, and the effect lasts on average 8-12 years.

Skin ageing will continue, but the face looks much younger than without the procedure. Possible complications and risks
Like any surgical procedure, this one also carries a certain risk. It is reduced by careful qualification before the procedure and by following the aftercare recommendations. Possible complications include:
- Haematoma or bleeding requiring drainage
- Infection requiring antibiotic therapy
- Temporary or rarely permanent sensory disturbances in the face or auricle
- Hypertrophic or discoloured scars
- Asymmetry requiring correction
- Longer-lasting swelling or bruising
- An unsatisfactory aesthetic result requiring possible re-operation

The degree of sagging decides: for early changes of the lower face a mini lift is enough; with pronounced tissue drooping and a lax neck only a full facelift will give a lasting effect. We will advise you honestly at the consultation.
Can a mini facelift be combined with other procedures?
Yes - most often with eyelid surgery, facial lipofilling or chin liposuction, which gives fuller rejuvenation with a single recovery.
How to prepare for the procedure?
A full set of tests and anaesthesiological qualification, stopping smoking for at least 4 weeks and blood-thinning medications after agreement with the doctor. You will receive a detailed list of recommendations at the consultation.
