Forehead and temple lift in Wrocław
A forehead and temple lift (brow lift) smooths horizontal forehead lines and raises drooping eyebrows and the tissues of the temples. Low brows deepen eyelid hooding and make the face look tired; the lift gives the upper face a more open look. At Luna Clinic in Wrocław it is performed by Dr Aleksandra Łuniewska and Kacper Pietruszka, who also uses the endoscopic technique.

Forehead and temple lift - what does the procedure involve?
A forehead and temporal lift is a surgical procedure aimed at smoothing horizontal forehead wrinkles, raising the eyebrows and improving the contour of the upper face. The procedure gives the gaze a more rested, open appearance and reduces the effect of drooping lateral eyelids.
We use techniques matched to the degree of drooping: a temporal lift (short incisions hidden in the hair - raising the outer part of the eyebrow), endoscopic or classic forehead lift. We often combine the procedure with upper eyelid surgery - eyelid hooding is in fact often a consequence of brow drooping.
Indications for the procedure
Whether the procedure is advisable for you is ultimately decided by the doctor during the consultation.
- Drooping eyebrows deepening a sad or tired facial expression
- Horizontal forehead wrinkles and vertical wrinkles between the eyebrows
- Eyebrow asymmetry
- Excess skin in the area of the outer upper eyelid
- A desire to rejuvenate the upper face
Contraindications
How to prepare for the procedure?
The procedure is always preceded by a qualification consultation with a plastic surgeon - we discuss expectations, examine the area to be operated on and establish an individual treatment plan. As standard, we order a full set of tests (blood count, coagulation, electrolytes, ECG for general anaesthesia) and, if necessary, additional specialist consultations.
- Surgical consultation
- Laboratory tests
- Stopping anticoagulant medications at least 14 days before the procedure (after consultation)
- Avoiding alcohol and smoking at least 14 days before the operation
- On the day of the procedure - thorough facial hygiene, without make-up or skincare cosmetics

Recovery and post-procedure recommendations
- Swelling and bruising usually subside within 2-3 weeks
- A feeling of tension or numbness in the forehead area may persist for a few weeks
- The sutures are removed after 7-10 days
- Avoiding physical exertion and bending the head for a minimum of 2 weeks
- Protecting the scars from the sun for a minimum of 6 months
- Recommended check-ups: after 1, 3 and 6 months
Treatment effects
The result of a forehead and temple lift is a raised, naturally curved eyebrow line, a smoothed forehead and an open gaze - the face loses its tired, “worried” expression. Raising the eyebrows also reduces the hooding of the upper eyelids. The effect lasts many years.
The result is smoothing of forehead wrinkles, raising of the eyebrows and a rejuvenated appearance of the upper face. The gaze becomes more open and fresh. The scars are hidden in the hairline and become practically invisible over time. The effect of the procedure is permanent, although natural ageing processes will continue.
Possible complications and risks
Like any surgical procedure, this one also carries a certain risk. It is reduced by careful qualification before the procedure and by following the aftercare recommendations. Possible complications include:
- Haematoma or bleeding requiring drainage
- Infection requiring antibiotic therapy
- Temporary or rarely permanent sensory disturbances in the face or auricle
- Hypertrophic or discoloured scars
- Asymmetry requiring correction
- Longer-lasting swelling or bruising
- An unsatisfactory aesthetic result requiring possible re-operation
Frequently asked questions
Does the procedure hurt?
The procedure is performed under anaesthesia - the patient feels no pain during the operation. After the procedure a mild pain may occur, well controlled with medication.
Do scars remain?
Yes, but they are placed in the hairline and become practically invisible over time.
When can I return to work?
To office work usually after about 10-14 days.
Is the effect permanent?
Yes, but natural ageing processes will continue.
How long does the swelling last?
It most often subsides within 2-3 weeks.
Can I wear make-up right away?
Make-up can be used after the sutures are removed and the skin has healed - usually after about 10-14 days.
Does it require general anaesthesia?
It can be performed under general anaesthesia or local anaesthesia with sedation - the decision depends on the surgical plan.
Can I combine this procedure with another?
Yes - it is often combined with eyelid surgery or a facelift.
Will the result be symmetrical?
The surgeon aims for maximum symmetry, but minor differences are natural.
Are check-ups necessary?
Yes - usually after 1, 3 and 6 months.
Forehead lift or eyelid surgery - what do I need?
If the eyebrows sit low (below the brow ridge), removing eyelid skin alone will not be enough and may even pull the eyebrows further down. The best result is often given by combining both procedures.
Does a forehead lift stiffen facial expression?
No - the procedure repositions the tissues without paralysing the muscles. Facial expression remains fully preserved, unlike the effect of botulinum toxin.
