Indications
Scars formed after surgical procedures or injuries that are wide, hard or cause discomfort require treatment. Therapies may include steroid injections, laser therapy or surgical correction. The goal is to reduce the visibility of the scar and improve the aesthetics and functionality of the skin.
Scars that show excessive tissue growth (keloids or hypertrophic scars) are an indication for therapies that reduce their volume and visibility. Treatment includes corticosteroid injections, laser therapy or the use of compression dressings. In some cases surgical removal of the lesions with additional prevention of recurrences is necessary.
Atrophic scars, such as those after acne or chickenpox, are characterised by depressions in the skin. Treatment with microneedling, fractional laser or chemical peels stimulates collagen production and evens out the skin surface. The effect is a smoother, more uniform skin structure.

Rodzaje blizn
Scars can take various forms depending on the mechanism of their formation. Hypertrophic scars result from an overproduction of collagen and often protrude above the skin surface, while atrophic scars, such as those after acne or chickenpox, are characterised by depressions. Keloids are a more advanced form of hypertrophic scar and can grow beyond the boundaries of the original wound. Each type of scar requires an individual approach to therapy.
Metody leczenia blizn
The treatment of scars includes a variety of methods adapted to their type and depth. For fresh scars, silicone ointments are used, which support the healing process and prevent hypertrophy. For more advanced lesions, laser treatments, chemical peels, dermabrasion or microneedling therapy are recommended, which stimulate skin regeneration and reduce the visibility of scars. In more difficult cases, such as keloids, steroid injections, cryotherapy or modern biological therapies are used.
Post-procedure care
Appropriate care of skin with scars supports the regeneration process and minimises the risk of new lesions forming. It is crucial to use sunscreens, because UV exposure can cause discolouration of scars. In daily care it is worth using creams containing ingredients that support regeneration, such as allantoin, vitamin E or onion extract. Regular visits to the dermatologist help monitor the progress of the therapy and, if necessary, modify the treatment plan to achieve a good aesthetic results.
Frequently asked questions
Which scars can be treated at Luna Clinic?
We treat post-operative, post-traumatic, post-acne, hypertrophic scars and keloids. We match the method to the type, age and location of the scar - from conservative therapies to surgical correction.
When is the best time to start scar treatment?
Early action gives good results - as soon as the wound has fully healed, usually after 3-6 weeks. Mature, long-standing scars can also be effectively corrected, although the therapy then takes longer.
Which scar reduction methods do you use?
Depending on the scar, we use laser therapy, steroid injections (for hypertrophic scars and keloids), microneedling, silicone preparations and surgical scar correction performed by a plastic surgeon.
Can a scar be removed completely?
No method removes a scar without a trace - the goal of treatment is to reduce its visibility as much as possible: levelling it, softening and lightening it so that it no longer draws attention.
How many treatments are needed to reduce the visibility of a scar?
Usually a series of 3-6 treatments at intervals of a few weeks, depending on the method and the nature of the scar. We establish the therapy plan and the approximate number of sessions at the first consultation.
Does scar treatment hurt?
We perform the treatments under local anaesthesia, so discomfort is minimal. After the treatment, temporary redness or a burning sensation in the treated area may persist.
How does a hypertrophic scar differ from a keloid?
A hypertrophic scar is raised but does not exceed the boundaries of the original wound and often flattens on its own. A keloid grows beyond the area of the injury and tends to recur - it requires a different treatment regimen.
Can old scars also be treated?
Yes. Mature scars respond well to fractional laser therapy, microneedling or surgical correction. Improvement is possible even many years after an injury or operation.
How to care for a scar after the procedure?
Sun protection SPF 50, moisturising, the use of recommended silicone preparations and avoiding mechanical irritation are crucial. You will receive detailed recommendations after each treatment.
Are scar treatments safe for every skin type?
Yes - we match the laser parameters and methods to the skin phototype and sensitivity. In people with darker complexions we use more cautious protocols to avoid discolouration.
How much does scar treatment cost in Wrocław?
The cost depends on the size of the scar and the chosen method - from single laser treatments to surgical correction. We present a precise quote after a consultation; you will find indicative prices in the Luna Clinic price list.
When are the effects of scar treatment visible?
The first changes are noticeable 4-6 weeks after the treatment, when the skin remodels collagen. The full effect of the series of treatments is assessed 3-6 months after the end of therapy.
Contraindications
A consultation has no significant contraindications. Any limitations concern selected treatment methods (e.g. laser vs. a tan, isotretinoin vs. pregnancy) - we will discuss them once a diagnosis is established.
How to prepare?
It is worth bringing to the visit:
- a list of medications and supplements taken
- existing documentation and test results
- a list of questions - nothing should slip your mind
- for skin lesions: do not cover them with make-up or irritate them before the visit
How does the procedure go?
We plan the treatment after a thorough skin assessment (with dermatoscopy if needed).
Recovery and recommendations
Diagnostic visits require no recovery. For treatments (e.g. laser) you will receive brief recommendations: sun protection, gentle care and avoiding high temperatures for a few days.
