Eyelid surgery for men in Wrocław
Eyelid surgery for men (blepharoplasty) removes excess skin from the upper eyelids and, on the lower lids, under-eye bags, while keeping the lower, typically male eyelid crease. The aim is a rested look, not an “operated” one. Men are operated on at Luna Clinic in Wrocław by Dr Aleksandra Łuniewska or by maxillofacial surgeon Kacper Pietruszka.

Upper eyelid surgery - what does the procedure involve?
Upper eyelid surgery (upper blepharoplasty) is a surgical procedure involving the removal of excess lax skin and, if needed, fat hernias from the upper eyelid. Its goal is to refresh and rejuvenate the look, improve the eye contour and remove the feeling of “heavy” eyelids, which can limit the field of vision.
It is a short procedure under local anaesthesia - and its effect changes the whole face. The scar is hidden in the natural eyelid crease and, once healed, is invisible even with the eyes closed.
Indications for the procedure
Whether the procedure is advisable for you is ultimately decided by the doctor during the consultation.
- Excess lax skin of the upper eyelid (a so-called drooping eyelid)
- A skin fold limiting the field of vision
- Fat hernias causing an effect of swelling or “bags”
- A tired, sad look
- Functional and aesthetic discomfort
Contraindications
How to prepare for the procedure?
The procedure is always preceded by a qualification consultation with a plastic surgeon - we discuss expectations, examine the area to be operated on and establish an individual treatment plan. As standard, we order a full set of tests (blood count, coagulation, electrolytes, ECG for general anaesthesia) and, if necessary, additional specialist consultations.
- Consultation with a plastic surgeon
- Stopping anticoagulant medications at least 14 days before the procedure (after consultation)
- Avoiding alcohol and smoking for at least 14 days before the procedure
- On the day of the operation the skin should be clean, without make-up

Recovery and post-procedure recommendations
- Swelling and bruising usually subside within 7-14 days
- Sutures are removed after 5-7 days
- The scars must be protected from the sun for a minimum of 6 months
- We recommend cool compresses in the first days after the procedure
- Avoiding physical exertion for about 2 weeks
- Using products that support scar maturation after complete healing
Treatment effects
The result of upper eyelid surgery is an open, rested look - the eyelid regains a visible crease, the feeling of heaviness disappears and in some patients the field of vision also improves. The effect lasts 8-12 years. It is a procedure with one of the best “low invasiveness - big change” ratios.
The result is a refreshed, younger look, reduced excess skin and a better eyelid contour. The outcome is lasting, but the skin-ageing process will continue naturally. The final effect can be assessed after about 2-3 months, once the swelling disappears and the scar heals.

AfterPossible complications and risks
Like any surgical procedure, this one also carries a certain risk. It is reduced by careful qualification before the procedure and by following the aftercare recommendations. Possible complications include:
- Haematoma or bleeding requiring drainage
- Infection requiring antibiotic therapy
- Temporary or rarely permanent sensory disturbances in the face or auricle
- Hypertrophic or discoloured scars
- Asymmetry requiring correction
- Longer-lasting swelling or bruising
- An unsatisfactory aesthetic result requiring possible re-operation
Frequently asked questions
Is the procedure painful?
Local anaesthesia effectively eliminates pain during the procedure. After the operation, slight discomfort is possible, relieved with painkillers.
Will there be a scar?
Yes - the scar is thin and hidden in the natural eyelid crease, usually barely visible after healing.
When can you return to work?
Most patients return to office work after about 7-10 days.
Is the effect permanent?
The effect lasts many years, although the skin-ageing process continues naturally.
Can the procedure be repeated?
Yes, if needed the procedure can be performed again after years.
When can I wear make-up?
Usually after 10-14 days, once the wounds have healed and the sutures are removed.
Can it be done under general anaesthesia?
As standard we perform it under local anaesthesia, but at the patient’s request - under general.
Why don’t we combine it with the lower eyelids?
The lower eyelids often look better after upper-eyelid surgery alone, because the fatty infiltration from above decreases. We plan lower-lid correction in stages - the decision is usually made about a month after the upper-lid operation, if the problem remains.
When can I return to sport?
After about 2-3 weeks light activities; intense sport after consulting the surgeon.
Can I drive a car?
Yes - usually from the next day, if there is no swelling significantly limiting vision.
Can upper and lower eyelid surgery be performed together?
Yes - it is a frequent combination, performed under one anaesthesia, giving full rejuvenation of the eye area.
When can I return to make-up and contact lenses?
Eyelid make-up after about 2 weeks (after full wound healing), contact lenses usually after 7-10 days.
