About the treatment

Chin liposuction for men - what does the procedure involve?

Chin liposuction is a surgical procedure aimed at removing excess fat tissue from the chin and neck area. It improves the jawline, reduces the so-called “double chin” and slims the facial profile.

We perform the procedure with thin microcannulas through 2-3-millimetre punctures hidden under the chin and behind the earlobes. In patients with good skin elasticity, liposuction alone is enough; with lax skin we suggest combining it with a neck lift.

Indications

Indications for the procedure

Whether the procedure is advisable for you is ultimately decided by the doctor during the consultation.

  • Excess fat tissue under the chin
  • Disturbed contour of the jaw and neck
  • Loss of definition of the cervicomental angle
  • A “double chin” resistant to diet and exercise
03

Contraindications

Active skin infections in the neck area
Uncompensated chronic diseases (e.g. diabetes, heart disease)
Blood clotting disorders
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Allergy to anaesthetics
04
Preparation

How to prepare for the procedure?

The procedure is always preceded by a qualification consultation with a plastic surgeon - we discuss expectations, examine the area to be operated on and establish an individual treatment plan. As standard, we order a full set of tests (blood count, coagulation, electrolytes, ECG for general anaesthesia) and, if necessary, additional specialist consultations.

  • Surgical consultation
  • Laboratory tests
  • Stopping anticoagulant and anti-inflammatory medications at least 14 days before the procedure (after consultation)
  • Avoiding alcohol and smoking for at least 14 days before the operation
  • On the day of the procedure - skin hygiene without creams or make-up
05

The chin-liposuction procedure step by step

1Qualificationassessment of the thickness of the fat tissue (palpation) and skin elasticity - it determines whether the skin will tighten after the procedure.
2Local anaesthesiathe area is infiltrated with tumescent fluid; the procedure takes 30-60 minuteses.
3Micro-punctures2-3 punctures of a few millimetres each - under the chin and behind the ears - leave virtually no marks.
4Fat aspiration with a microcannulathe fat is aspirated evenly, and the jawline and cervicomental angle are modelled.
5Compression bandafter the procedure an elastic modelling band is applied, worn constantly for a few days and then at night - it supports skin tightening.
06
Recovery

Recovery and post-procedure recommendations

  • Swelling and bruising usually subside within 2-3 weeks

Treatment effects

The result of chin liposuction is a clear, sharp jawline and cervicomental angle and a slimmer facial profile - a change particularly visible in profile photos. The removed fat cells do not grow back, so the effect is permanent. We assess the final result after 2-3 months.

  • Haematoma, swelling, bruising
  • Irregularities of the neck contour
  • Damage to sensory nerves (temporary numbness)
  • Infection

Frequently asked questions

Does the procedure hurt?

It is performed under anaesthesia - the patient feels no pain during it, and afterwards the pain is relieved with medication.

Will there be scars?

Yes, but very small - usually hidden under the chin or behind the ears.

When will I see the final result?

The full effect is visible after about 2-3 months.

Is the effect permanent?

Yes - if the patient maintains a stable weight.

How long will I have to wear the compression band?

Usually for 1-2 weeks, according to the surgeon’s recommendations.

When can I return to work?

To office work - usually after a few days, depending on the swelling.

Can the procedure be combined with other procedures?

Yes - chin liposuction is often combined with a neck lift or facial-contouring procedures. The optimal plan is determined by the surgeon during the consultation.

Does the procedure need to be repeated?

No, unless changes occur over time due to natural ageing or a significant weight gain.

Does chin liposuction remove excess skin?

No - it removes fat. In the case of a large excess of skin, other procedures may be needed (e.g. a neck lift).

How long does the swelling last?

It most often subsides within 2-3 weeks.

Won’t the skin sag after chin liposuction?

In patients with good elasticity, the skin tightens over the new contour - the compression band supports this. With marked laxity, we will immediately suggest combining it with a neck lift.

How quickly will I return to work after the procedure?

To office work usually after 2-4 days; the band is then worn only at night. Bruising and swelling subside within 1-2 weeks.
