Breast augmentation
Breast augmentation is the most frequently performed plastic-surgery operation in the world. At Luna Clinic we augment the bust with silicone implants (anatomical or round) or - in selected patients - with the person’s own fat tissue (fat transfer). The aim is a fuller, symmetrical bust in natural proportion to the figure.

Breast augmentation - what does the procedure involve?
Breast augmentation with implants is one of the most frequently performed operations in plastic surgery. The procedure consists in placing breast implants - anatomical or round - under the breast gland or the pectoralis major muscle. The aim is to achieve a fuller shape, symmetry and volume of the bust. The procedure is performed while respecting the principles of body proportion and natural aesthetics.
The choice of implant (shape, projection, volume) and its placement (under the muscle, under the gland or dual plane) are the most important decisions of the surgical plan - we make them together with the patient at the consultation, with sizer fittings and an analysis of chest proportions.
Indications for the procedure
Whether the procedure is advisable for you is ultimately decided by the doctor during the consultation.
- A small or underdeveloped bust
- Loss of breast volume after pregnancy, breastfeeding or weight reduction
- Asymetria piersi
- Improvement of body proportions and self-esteem
- A desire to reshape the breasts
Contraindications
How to prepare for the procedure?
The procedure is always preceded by a qualification consultation with a plastic surgeon - we discuss expectations, examine the area to be operated on and establish an individual treatment plan. As standard, we order a full set of tests (blood count, coagulation, electrolytes, ECG for general anaesthesia) and, if necessary, additional specialist consultations.
- The procedure takes about 1.5 hours and is performed under general anaesthesia.
- The surgeon makes a small incision (most often in the inframammary fold), through which the implant is placed - under the gland or the muscle, depending on the anatomical build.
- We use only modern implants with quality certificates, selected individually for the patient’s needs
- After the procedure, sutures and dressings are applied.
- The patient stays for 1 day in the clinic under the care of the medical team.
The breast-augmentation procedure step by step
Recovery and post-procedure recommendations
- A specialist compression bra should be worn for 6 weeks
- Avoid raising the arms, physical exertion and sleeping on the stomach
- No sun exposure of the scars for at least 6 months
- The sutures are removed after about 10-14 days
- Massages and scar products are introduced after the wound has healed - according to the surgeon’s recommendation
- Check-ups: after 2 weeks, 1, 3, 6 and 12 months
Treatment effects
The result of breast augmentation is a fuller, symmetrical and proportional bust with a natural shape and softness - especially when the implant is placed under the muscle. The full effect is visible after 3-6 months, when the implants “settle” and the swelling subsides. Modern implants are durable and do not require routine replacement.
The result of the procedure is a fuller, symmetrical and more proportional bust.
At Luna Clinic we make sure the result is natural and matched to the patient’s figure.
The implants are durable - they do not require routine replacement every few years. Their lifespan depends on the quality of the product and the body’s reaction.
The full effect is visible 3-6 months after the operation, when the swelling disappears and the tissues settle.

PoPossible complications and risks
Like any surgical procedure, this one also carries a certain risk - at Luna Clinic we minimise it through careful qualification, operating in operating-block conditions and the team’s experience. Possible complications include:
- Haematoma or bleeding requiring drainage
- Infection requiring antibiotic therapy
- Temporary or rarely permanent sensory disturbances in the operated area
- Hypertrophic or discoloured scars - minimised thanks to precise suturing technique
- Asymmetry requiring correction
- Longer-lasting swelling or bruising
- An unsatisfactory aesthetic result requiring possible re-operation
Frequently asked questions
Czy zabieg boli?
No - we perform the procedure under general anaesthesia. After the operation we use effective pain relief.
Where will the scars be?
Most often in the inframammary fold - they are short and usually barely visible after healing.
Do the implants need to be replaced?
There is no need for replacement after a specific time, as long as there are no signs of damage or abnormalities.
Can I breastfeed after the procedure?
Yes - in most cases the procedure does not affect the ability to breastfeed.
How long does recovery take?
You can return to office work after 7-10 days. Full physical activity is possible after 6 weeks.
Is the effect immediate?
It is visible immediately, but the final shape and position of the breasts stabilises after a few months.
Are the implants safe?
Yes - we use only certified implants from reputable manufacturers.
What implant size should I choose?
The decision is made together with the surgeon - based on body build, proportions and the patient’s expectations.
Can the procedure be combined with a breast lift?
Yes - we often combine augmentation with implants and a breast lift in one stage.
Are the implants palpable under the skin?
No - especially when placed under the muscle, the effect is very natural to the touch as well.
Anatomical or round implants - which to choose?
Anatomical (teardrop) implants give a subtle, natural profile; round ones - a fuller upper pole of the breast. The choice depends on the chest build, the amount of the person’s own tissue and the desired effect - we will advise you at the consultation.
Can I breastfeed after breast augmentation?
Yes - access through the inframammary fold and placing the implant under the muscle do not damage the gland or the milk ducts.
Do the implants make breast examinations more difficult?
They do not make them impossible - ultrasound and mammography are performed using techniques adapted to implants. Regular prevention remains fully possible and necessary.

What does breast augmentation involve?
Breast augmentation is a procedure in the field of plastic surgery. At Luna Clinic, every treatment plan is created individually - we start with a thorough consultation and qualification, during which the doctor discusses expectations, assesses the starting situation and selects the scope and technique of the procedure. Thanks to this, breast augmentation is safe, predictable and tailored to the anatomy and real needs of the specific person. We focus on a natural rather than artificial effect - so that the result emphasises individual beauty and remains in harmony with the rest of the figure or facial features. You will find a full, detailed description of the method in the upper part of this page.
breast augmentation - who is it for? Indications and qualification
The best way to answer whether breast augmentation is advisable in your case is during a consultation. The doctor always decides on qualification after an examination - we take into account the state of health, expectations and the real possibilities of the given method. If the procedure is not needed or safe at the moment, we will say so directly and suggest a sensible alternative. Such an honest conversation is the basis of a good decision and satisfaction with the result - which is why we never persuade anyone into unnecessary procedures.
How does the procedure go?
The course is planned to take maximum care of your comfort and safety. We work in comfortable conditions that meet all standards, and an experienced team oversees the process. All recommendations - preparation, contraindications and post-procedure conduct - are discussed individually and also provided in writing, so that breast augmentation proceeds calmly, predictably and without surprises.
Effects and durability - breast augmentation before and after
The effects that breast augmentation provides are always assessed individually. A natural, harmonious refreshment of appearance or an improvement of proportions is the goal we strive for with every patient. “Before and after” transformations are best viewed in our results gallery - they show the real outcomes of our work. Remember that the durability and quality of the effect are also influenced by lifestyle, care and consistent adherence to post-procedure recommendations.
Recovery and post-procedure recommendations
Recovery goes most smoothly when you follow the recommendations closely. After the procedure you remain under the clinic’s care - in the first days, contact with a doctor is available, and we schedule follow-up visits until full healing and assessment of the effect. You receive clear instructions on care, activity and any supporting products in writing, so you know exactly what to expect at each stage of returning to form.
Safety, experience and trust
Safety is an absolute priority for us. Breast augmentation is performed by Dr Aleksandra Łuniewska - a plastic surgery specialist, with care for safety and an individual approach to the patient. Careful qualification, work in appropriate conditions and the team’s experience allow us to minimise risk and achieve repeatable, aesthetic results. In the field of plastic surgery, not only technique matters, but also aesthetic sense and trust between patient and doctor - and that is exactly what we build Luna Clinic on every day.
Why Luna Clinic?
Luna Clinic is an intimate, boutique clinic where not only the result matters, but also comfort, discretion and a sense of safety. We carry out breast augmentation with attention to every detail - from the first conversation, through the procedure itself, to post-procedure care. Patients choose us for the experience of our specialists, the individual approach and the natural, harmonious results. It matters to us that every person feels heard and well informed, which is why we present the real possibilities and limitations of the given method and choose the best solution together.
How to prepare for the procedure?
Good preparation translates directly into the course and the effect. Before breast augmentation we conduct a qualification consultation, order tests if necessary and discuss the recommendations in detail - including which agents, stimulants or activities to avoid in the days preceding the procedure. You receive all the guidance clearly and in writing, and our team remains available should any additional questions arise. We always tailor the preparation plan individually, because every situation and every patient is different.
