Manual therapy Wrocław - Luna Clinic

Manual therapy at Luna Clinic in Wrocław is an effective, non-invasive method of treating pain and restricted mobility of the spine and joints. We combine manual techniques, therapeutic massage and modern supporting methods to restore a correct movement pattern and reduce muscle tension. We work with patients with chronic pain, with athletes and with people in the perioperative period. Every therapy is preceded by a functional examination, which allows techniques to be matched to the real cause of the problem, not just the symptoms. The clinic is located at Władysława Syrokomli 46 and is easy to reach from every district of Wrocław.

What is manual therapy

Manual therapy is a set of diagnostic and treatment techniques performed with the therapist’s hands, targeting the joints, muscles, fascia and nervous system. Its aim is to restore proper mobility, reduce pain and improve musculoskeletal function without drugs and without surgery. At Luna Clinic we treat it as a process: we work on the cause of the complaint, not just momentary relief, teaching the patient how to maintain the results every day.

Indications - spine and joint pain

Manual therapy is most often used by people with cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine pain, tension headaches, restricted shoulder or hip mobility and discomfort resulting from sedentary work. It also helps with myofascial tension, sciatica and overload conditions. If the complaints have a cause requiring surgical treatment, we refer the patient to our orthopedic practice.

Therapeutic and sports massage

Our offer includes sports massage, supporting regeneration and preparation for exercise, and relaxing massage, reducing stress and tension. Therapeutic massage improves tissue circulation, speeds up the removal of metabolic by-products and prepares the muscles for further therapeutic work. Techniques are chosen for the purpose of the visit - we work differently with a runner before a race than with someone after a whole day at a desk.

Transbuccal massage and facial therapy

Transbuccal massage is a specialised technique of working inside the oral cavity, effective for tension of the chewing muscles, temporomandibular joint pain and bruxism. It relaxes the muscles responsible for jaw clenching, bringing relief to patients suffering from head and facial pain and tooth wear. The procedure is often combined with therapy of the cervical spine.

Kinesiotaping

Kinesiotaping, the application of elastic tapes, supports the work of muscles and joints without restricting movement. We use it to reduce swelling, relieve overloaded structures and improve proprioception. It is a method that complements manual therapy, particularly valued by athletes and people returning to activity after injuries.

Pre- and post-operative therapy

Pre- and post-operative therapy prepares the body for surgery and speeds up the return to fitness afterwards. Before the procedure we improve range of motion and muscle strength; after the operation we look after proper healing, swelling reduction and the gradual restoration of function. Close cooperation with the orthopedic and surgical team allows rehabilitation to be planned consistently with the course of treatment.

What a visit looks like

The first visit begins with an interview and a functional examination, during which we assess posture, range of motion and compensatory patterns. On this basis we establish a therapy plan and the recommended number of sessions. The therapist works with manual techniques and at the end provides a set of exercises and tips to use at home, which significantly improves the durability of the results.

Who manual therapy is for

The method works well for office workers exposed to prolonged immobility, for amateur and professional athletes, for pregnant women (with appropriate techniques) and for seniors wishing to stay fit. It is a safe, well-tolerated form of treatment that can be combined with aesthetic medicine and other areas of care available at our clinic.

Safety and contraindications

Manual therapy is a safe method, provided it is carried out by a qualified therapist after a prior examination. Relative contraindications include recent injuries and fractures, advanced osteoporosis, active inflammatory and infectious conditions, cancer in the active phase and certain vascular diseases. That is why every therapy is preceded by an interview and a review of medical records, and if necessary we refer the patient for additional diagnostics or an orthopedic consultation. The patient’s safety and comfort matter more to us than the pace of therapy, so techniques are selected individually and their intensity increased gradually.

How many visits are needed and how long results last

The number of visits depends on the nature of the complaint - with an acute, recent problem, relief can be felt after the first or second session, while chronic complaints, consolidated over years, require a series of several sessions. The durability of the result depends not only on the therapy itself but also on daily habits: work ergonomics, physical activity and regular performance of the recommended exercises. That is why we teach patients how to care for the spine and joints every day, to limit the risk of recurrence and maintain the results as long as possible.

Manual therapy, sport and prevention

Manual therapy is not only treatment but also the prevention of overloads and injuries. Regular work on mobility and muscle tension improves movement quality, capacity and regeneration - appreciated by amateur and professional athletes alike. In people with a sedentary lifestyle it prevents the consolidation of faulty posture patterns and the pain associated with them. Combined with kinesiotaping and individually selected training, it is an effective element of staying fit for years.

Manual therapy and daily habits

The results of therapy last best when the patient makes small changes in daily life: taking care of workstation ergonomics, taking movement breaks, sleeping in a comfortable position and stretching regularly. During visits we suggest simple solutions that genuinely relieve the spine and joints. This way therapy does not end in the treatment room but becomes part of a healthy lifestyle.

Cooperation with other specialists

At Luna Clinic manual therapy is part of broader care. When needed, we consult the patient with an orthopedist, and after surgical procedures we plan rehabilitation consistently with the surgeon’s recommendations. This interdisciplinary approach allows a faster, safer return to fitness, and the patient can be sure that all stages of treatment are connected.
