Breast asymmetry correction

Breast asymmetry correction is a procedure to even out differences in the size, shape or position of the breasts - congenital or acquired (after pregnancy, breastfeeding, operations). The surgical plan is always individual: it may include enlarging one breast, reducing the other, a lift or a combination of several techniques.

About the treatment

Breast asymmetry correction - na czym polega zabieg?

Breast asymmetry correction is a surgical procedure aimed at evening out the shape, size and position of the breasts. In some patients the asymmetry is congenital, in others it develops after pregnancy, breastfeeding, operations or injuries. At Luna Clinic each patient is qualified individually - the plan may include enlarging one breast, reducing the other, a lift, or a combination of several techniques, in order to restore the harmony of the figure and the patient’s psychological comfort.

A certain breast asymmetry is natural and affects most women - we suggest the procedure when the difference is pronounced (e.g. a whole cup size), visible in clothing or lowers the patient’s psychological comfort. We combine techniques freely: an implant on one side, mastopexy on the other, lipofilling to even out the contour.

02
Indications

Indications for the procedure

Whether the procedure is advisable for you is ultimately decided by the doctor during the consultation.

  • Visible breast asymmetry (size, shape, position of the nipples)
  • Differences in the volume of the breast gland (e.g. after breastfeeding)
  • Asymmetry after surgical procedures (e.g. after removal of cysts or nodules)
  • Age-related lengthening of the lower face
  • Poland syndrome or other congenital defects
  • Aesthetic discomfort, difficulty choosing underwear and clothing
03

Contraindications

Pregnancy and the breastfeeding period
Unstable body weight (planned weight loss or weight gain)
Chronic diseases in an uncompensated phase (diabetes, coagulation disorders)
An active infection or inflammation in the breast area
Unrealistic expectations regarding the result of the procedure
04
Preparation

How to prepare for the procedure?

The procedure is always preceded by a qualification consultation with a plastic surgeon - we discuss expectations, examine the area to be operated on and establish an individual treatment plan. As standard, we order a full set of tests (blood count, coagulation, electrolytes, ECG for general anaesthesia) and, if necessary, additional specialist consultations.

  • Consultation with a plastic surgeon for qualification, discussing expectations and the treatment plan
  • Laboratory tests
  • Stopping anticoagulant medications at least 14 days before the operation (after consulting a doctor)
  • Avoiding alcohol and cigarette smoking for at least 14 days before the procedure - for better healing

The breast-asymmetry-correction procedure step by step

1Asymmetry analysisprecise measurements of both breasts - volume, nipple position and inframammary folds - are the basis of the evening-out plan.
2Anaesthesia generalthe operation time depends on the scope: 1.5-3.5 hours.
3Correction of the smaller breastenlargement with an implant or lipofilling, recreating a symmetrical inframammary fold.
4Correction of the larger or sagging breastreduction or a lift (mastopexy) to even out the volume and the position of the nipple.
5Symmetry check and suturingassessment of symmetry in a semi-sitting position on the operating table; layered suturing and a compression bra.
06
Recovery

Recovery and post-procedure recommendations

  • In the first days pain, swelling and temporary asymmetry are possible - this is natural and subsides over time
  • A post-operative bra should be worn for at least 6 weeks
  • Avoid movements that raise the arms, lifting and exertion for at least 4 weeks
  • No sun exposure of the scars for at least 6 months
  • After 4-6 weeks, scar massage and the use of healing-support products can be started
  • Check-ups: 7 days, 4 weeks, 3 months, 6 and 12 months after the procedure
07

Treatment effects

The result of breast asymmetry correction is a symmetrical, harmonious bust - evened out in terms of size, shape and nipple position. The effect is visible immediately after the procedure, and we make a full assessment after 3-6 months. For most patients it is the end of a years-long complex.

The aim of the operation is to achieve symmetry between the breasts in terms of size, shape and position. The effects are visible immediately after the operation, but a full assessment is possible after about 6 months, when the swelling subsides and the tissues settle. The scars after the procedure are located in natural skin folds or around the areola, and over time become barely visible. The effect is permanent - although ageing, pregnancy or weight fluctuations can affect the further appearance of the breasts.

Possible complications and risks

Like any surgical procedure, this one also carries a certain risk - at Luna Clinic we minimise it through careful qualification, operating in operating-block conditions and the team’s experience. Possible complications include:

  • Haematoma or bleeding requiring drainage
  • Infection requiring antibiotic therapy
  • Temporary or rarely permanent sensory disturbances in the operated area
  • Hypertrophic or discoloured scars - minimised thanks to precise suturing technique
  • Asymmetry requiring correction
  • Longer-lasting swelling or bruising
  • An unsatisfactory aesthetic result requiring possible re-operation

Frequently asked questions

Will the result be completely symmetrical?

The aim of the operation is to even out the breasts as far as the anatomy allows - full identity is not always possible, but we achieve a natural, harmonious proportion.

Can this procedure be combined with another operation, e.g. a tummy tuck?

Yes - with good health, some procedures can be combined. The surgeon makes the decision at the planning stage.

What tests do I need to have before the operation?

Blood count, APTT (activated partial thromboplastin time), INR (international normalised ratio), CRP (C-reactive protein), sodium, potassium, creatinine. In addition, the patient must have a document confirming their blood group (valid for life). We provide the details at the consultation.

Is the procedure painful?

No. It is performed under general anaesthesia. After the operation the patient may feel moderate pain, which we control effectively with medication.

How long do you have to wear the post-operative bra?

A minimum of 8 weeks - around the clock. The doctor will then explain which bras to wear. For up to a year there is a strict ban on going without a bra.

Will I be able to breastfeed after the procedure?

It depends on the scope of the operation. In many cases the ability to lactate is preserved, but we discuss each situation individually.

Can an implant be used on only one side?

Yes. If the difference concerns only volume, we use an implant only on the side of the smaller breast.

Will there be scars after the procedure?

Yes, but we place them so that they are as inconspicuous as possible - around the areola, in the inframammary fold or vertically below the nipple.

When can I return to work?

To office work - usually after 5-7 days. To physical work - after 3-4 weeks, following a medical check-up.

After how long is the final result visible?

We assess the full effect after 6 months - when the scars mature and the tissues settle. The final effect and full healing can be assessed after 12 months.

Is it possible to achieve perfect breast symmetry?

The goal is symmetry “in a bra and in the mirror” - breasts are never perfectly identical (even naturally), but after the procedure the differences become practically imperceptible.

Can the asymmetry return after the procedure?

The achieved symmetry is lasting, although the breasts are still subject to natural processes - pregnancy or large weight fluctuations can affect both breasts to varying degrees.

What does breast asymmetry correction involve?

Breast asymmetry correction is a procedure in the field of plastic surgery. At Luna Clinic, every treatment plan is created individually - we start with a thorough consultation and qualification, during which the doctor discusses expectations, assesses the starting situation and selects the scope and technique of the procedure. Thanks to this, breast asymmetry correction is safe, predictable and tailored to the anatomy and real needs of the specific person. We focus on a natural rather than artificial effect - so that the result emphasises individual beauty and remains in harmony with the rest of the figure or facial features. You will find a full, detailed description of the method in the upper part of this page.

breast asymmetry correction - who is it for? Indications and qualification

The best way to answer whether breast asymmetry correction is advisable in your case is during a consultation. The doctor always decides on qualification after an examination - we take into account the state of health, expectations and the real possibilities of the given method. If the procedure is not needed or safe at the moment, we will say so directly and suggest a sensible alternative. Such an honest conversation is the basis of a good decision and satisfaction with the result - which is why we never persuade anyone into unnecessary procedures.

How does the procedure go?

The course is planned to take maximum care of your comfort and safety. We work in comfortable conditions that meet all standards, and an experienced team oversees the process. All recommendations - preparation, contraindications and post-procedure conduct - are discussed individually and also provided in writing, so that breast asymmetry correction proceeds calmly, predictably and without surprises.

Effects and durability - breast asymmetry correction before and after

The effects that breast asymmetry correction provides are always assessed individually. A natural, harmonious refreshment of appearance or an improvement of proportions is the goal we strive for with every patient. “Before and after” transformations are best viewed in our results gallery - they show the real outcomes of our work. Remember that the durability and quality of the effect are also influenced by lifestyle, care and consistent adherence to post-procedure recommendations.

Recovery and post-procedure recommendations

Recovery goes most smoothly when you follow the recommendations closely. After the procedure you remain under the clinic’s care - in the first days, contact with a doctor is available, and we schedule follow-up visits until full healing and assessment of the effect. You receive clear instructions on care, activity and any supporting products in writing, so you know exactly what to expect at each stage of returning to form.

Safety, experience and trust

Safety is an absolute priority for us. Breast asymmetry correction is performed by Dr Aleksandra Łuniewska - a plastic surgery specialist, with care for safety and an individual approach to the patient. Careful qualification, work in appropriate conditions and the team’s experience allow us to minimise risk and achieve repeatable, aesthetic results. In the field of plastic surgery, not only technique matters, but also aesthetic sense and trust between patient and doctor - and that is exactly what we build Luna Clinic on every day.

Why Luna Clinic?

Luna Clinic is an intimate, boutique clinic where not only the result matters, but also comfort, discretion and a sense of safety. We carry out breast asymmetry correction with attention to every detail - from the first conversation, through the procedure itself, to post-procedure care. Patients choose us for the experience of our specialists, the individual approach and the natural, harmonious results. It matters to us that every person feels heard and well informed, which is why we present the real possibilities and limitations of the given method and choose the best solution together.

How to prepare for the procedure?

Good preparation translates directly into the course and the effect. Before breast asymmetry correction we conduct a qualification consultation, order tests if necessary and discuss the recommendations in detail - including which agents, stimulants or activities to avoid in the days preceding the procedure. You receive all the guidance clearly and in writing, and our team remains available should any additional questions arise. We always tailor the preparation plan individually, because every situation and every patient is different.
