Lipofilling, or autologous fat tissue transfer, is a body-contouring procedure that moves the patient’s own fat from one area of the body (e.g. the abdomen, thighs) to another - to improve volume, shape or skin quality. At Luna Clinic we perform body lipofilling e.g. in the area of the buttocks, hips, breasts (as a supplement), scars or tissue defects. The procedure allows subtle, lasting effects to be achieved naturally, without the use of implants.
It is a “two-in-one” procedure: it simultaneously slims the donor areas and augments and models the recipient areas. The transferred fat that takes (usually 60-80% of the volume) remains permanently and behaves like natural tissue.

Contraindications
How to prepare for the procedure?
The procedure is always preceded by a qualification consultation with a plastic surgeon - we discuss expectations, examine the area to be operated on and establish an individual treatment plan. As standard, we order a full set of tests (blood count, coagulation, electrolytes, ECG for general anaesthesia) and, if necessary, additional specialist consultations.

Recovery and post-procedure recommendations
- Swelling and bruising are natural and diminish within 2-4 weeks
- Sleeping with the head elevated is recommended for the first few days
- Dressings and sutures cared for according to the doctor’s recommendations
- Sutures are usually removed after 7-14 days
- Avoiding intense physical exertion and bending over for a minimum of 4-6 weeks
- No sunbathing or use of a solarium for a minimum of 6 months - SPF 50 protection is necessary
- After full healing, scar massages and products supporting their maturation may be introduced - according to the doctor’s recommendation
- Check-ups: about 1 month after the procedure, then after 3, 6 and 12 months
Treatment effects
The result of body lipofilling is natural augmentation and modelling of the selected areas with simultaneous slimming of the harvest sites. We assess the final result after about 3 months, when the volume of the taken graft stabilises - this part of the fat remains permanently.
Possible complications and risks
Like any surgical procedure, this one also carries a certain risk - at Luna Clinic we minimise it through careful qualification, operating in operating-block conditions and the team’s experience. Possible complications include:
- Irregularities, asymmetry, partial absorption of the fat
- Infection, necrosis of the transferred fat (rare)
- Microlipomas (small fat lumps at the injection site)

Is the fat absorbed after the procedure?
Yes - part of the transferred fat (about 20-40%) is absorbed naturally. The remaining volume stays permanently.
Can I repeat the procedure?
Yes - if the effect after the first procedure is insufficient or a correction of asymmetry is needed.
Does the procedure hurt?
No - it is performed under anaesthesia. After the operation the patient may feel slight pain and tension, which we relieve with medication.
What are the restrictions after the procedure?
For 4-6 weeks you must not exercise, put pressure on the graft sites or expose them to the sun.
When will I see the result?
The first effects are visible immediately, but the final shape is achieved after about 3 months.
Where can the fat be administered?
Most often: buttocks, breasts (additionally), hips, scar areas, fat-tissue defects. The doctor decides on this.
Can the fat move?
No - if the patient follows the recommendations. The fat integrates with the tissue and does not move.
